Workshop Introduction to the Wheel


XCG 125 | Duration: 2.5 hours | Max. 5 people

Have you always wanted to try making something on a pottery wheel? During this accessible workshop, you will learn the basics of wheel throwing, centering clay, building a form, and creating your own unique object, such as a bowl.

This workshop is perfect for beginners who want to get acquainted with ceramics in a relaxed way. You will work in a small group of up to five people, allowing for plenty of personal attention.

What can you expect?

In 2.5 hours, you will learn how to work with the pottery wheel under guidance. You will practice centering, pulling up the walls, and shaping a small piece. At the end of the workshop, you will choose one favorite piece. This work will be finished by us with a transparent glaze and fired twice, making it waterproof, durable, and dishwasher safe. After about four weeks, you will receive a notification that your work is ready for pickup in the studio.

Would you prefer to do the glazing yourself?Then you can come back later for a Paint your Pottery session. For this, you pay an additional studio fee of XCG 25 per person. Your work will then be fired again and will be ready for you in about 2 weeks.

  • One transparent glazed and fired piece
  • Want to keep more pieces? That can be done for an additional fee of XCG 15 per piece
  • One drink (coffee, tea, or a soft drink)

Handbuilding Workshop 

Varying themes


XCG 75 - 150 | Duration: Varies | Max. 6 people

During this handbuilding workshop, you will create a unique ceramic piece from clay. The themes vary each week, check thebooking pageto see what is on the schedule. You will learn how to shape and finish your own ceramic work using your hands, tools, and creativity, without a pottery wheel.

What can you expect?

We will guide you step by step in shaping your piece using basic techniques such as coiling and slab building. A fun way to get acquainted with ceramics, suitable for everyone, even if you have no experience! Afterward, you will leave your piece with us to dry, and we will glaze and fire it transparently. You will receive a message in about four weeks that it is ready for pickup.

XCG 499 | Duration: 2.5 hours per lesson | Max. 8 people

Would you like to take more time to discover ceramics? During this five-week beginner course, you will learn the technique of handbuilding step by step in a relaxed atmosphere. In a small group of up to eight participants, you will receive personal guidance from an experienced teacher.

What can you expect?

You will be introduced to the main handbuilding techniques: pinching, coiling, and slab building. Using these techniques, you will learn how to create both functional and decorative ceramic pieces. Each lesson lasts 2.5 hours, including cleanup time. In the final lesson, you will glaze your pieces yourself. Afterwards, they will be fired and will be ready for collection in approximately four weeks.

Included:

  • Tuition for five lessons
  • Clay, glaze, and firing costs for 3 pieces
  • One drink per lesson (coffee, tea, or a soft drink)

Additional pieces can be kept for an extra fee.
