Workshop Introduction to the Wheel
XCG 125 | Duration: 2,5 hour | Max. 5 persons
Have you always wanted to try making something on the potter's wheel? In this accessible workshop, you'll learn the fundamentals of wheel throwing: how to center your clay, build a shape, and create your own unique object, like a small bowl.
This workshop is perfect for beginners who want a relaxed introduction to the world of ceramics. You'll work in a small group of up to five people, which guarantees plenty of one-on-one attention.
What you can expect:
In 2.5 hours, our experienced teacher will guide you through working on the potter's wheel. You'll practice centering, pulling up the walls, and shaping your first small piece. At the end of the workshop, you'll choose one favorite item. We'll finish this piece with a clear glaze and fire it twice in the kiln, making it waterproof, durable, and completely dishwasher safe! After about four weeks, you'll receive a notification that your finished creation is ready to be picked up at the studio.
Would you rather handle the glazing yourself? You can always return later for a Paint your Pottery session. This requires an extra studio fee of XCG 25 per person. Your work will then be fired again in the kiln and will be ready for pickup in about 2 weeks.

- Want to keep extra pieces? You can! We charge a small fee of XCG 15 for each additional piece you choose to keep.

Workshop Handbuilding

In this handbuilding workshop, you will create a unique ceramic piece from clay. The themes vary each week, so check the booking page to see what’s on the schedule. You will learn how to shape and finish your own ceramic work using only your hands, tools, and creativity, without a pottery wheel.
What you can expect:
We'll guide you step-by-step through forming your board or plate using essential techniques like coiling and slab building. This is a great, welcoming introduction to ceramics suitable for everyone, even if you have zero experience! Afterward, you'll leave your piece with us to dry. We'll take care of the clear glazing and the kiln firing. You'll receive a notification that your finished piece is ready for pickup in about four weeks.
