Workshop Introduction to Handbuilding
XCG 125 | Duration: 2.5 hours | Max. 6 people
During this accessible workshop, you will get acquainted with the basics of handbuilding: building with slabs, pinching, and coiling. You will learn how to shape and finish your own ceramic piece using your hands, tools, and creativity.
This workshop is perfect for beginners who want to get to know ceramics in a relaxed way. You will work in a small group of up to six people, allowing for plenty of personal attention.
What can you expect?
In 2.5 hours, you will learn the three basic techniques of handbuilding under guidance. You will practice building with slabs, pinching, and coiling while shaping your piece. At the end of the workshop, you will choose one favorite piece. This work will be finished by us with a transparent glaze and fired twice, making it waterproof, durable, and dishwasher safe. After about four weeks, you will receive a notification that your work is ready for pickup in the studio.
Would you prefer to glaze it yourself? Then you can come back later for a Paint Your Pottery session. You will pay an additional studio fee of XCG 25 per person for this. Your work will then be fired again and will be ready for you after about 2 weeks.
